Burrell Imaing answers your Spray Finishing Questions

Our Customer Care department receives lots of calls from photographers all across the USA asking the differences on Burrell’s various spraying options and when it should be applied.

Finishing your prints protects them from scuffing, scratches, and discoloration and because of this, Burrell Imaging recommends that most prints be finished.

ROLLED FINISH OPTIONS

Luster and Clear coatings are water based materials that are machine rolled on to the print. This finish dries hard and durable, protecting your prints from handling and natural wear.

This rolling finish application is available for print sizes up to 20 x 30.

HAND SPRAY FINISH OPTIONS

Burrell’s lacquer spays are available in 3 finish options; Clear, Luster and Matte. These finishes are sprayed on by hand. This hand spray is utilized mostly for our print sizes larger than 20X30. The characteristics of each of these spray finishes

include:

Clear Spray:

A glossy type finish that enhances your colors and adds snap to your print.

Matte Spray:

A totally non-reflective spray.

Luster Spray:

A cross between matte and clear producing a semi-gloss finish.

TEXTURED FINISH SPRAY OPTIONS

Another spray option to consider is Burrell’s Pro-Texture and Pro-Tallic. This textured finish spray is sprayed on by hand, and requires 5 coats. Pro-Texture and Pro-Tallic will require an extra day in lab to dry.

Pro-Texture:

A unique spray finish producing a thick textured finish on a print.

Protallic:

The same feel as Pro-Texture spray, giving a truly distinctive look when applied to metallic paper.

Floating Metal Prints! Our HD3D Metal Prints are a truly unique

to add two metal prints to your order; one as your background
image, and another as your focal image.

The top print on our new HD3D Prints will stand up 1/2″ above the
background piece. These new prints range in size from a 4 x 6
focal image mounted on a 6 x 8 background image metal print all
the way up to a
24 x 36 focal image print mounted on a 28 x 40 background image.
While using the same image for the background image as your focal
image is recommended for the best look, the background image
doesn’t necessarily have to be identical to the focal image.
